Time for another confusing UI design choice.
When pressing “cancel” on a process, I was presented with this confirmation dialogue.
Do I press cancel to cancel the process, or to cancel my decision? Do I press proceed to let the process continue, or to proceed with my decision?
I understand that the correct button is “Proceed” because it is red and it is “proceeding” with the cancel. But why not make it absolutely clear? Yes and No are more obvious options in a dialogue asking me if I am sure that I want to cancel.
Taking it one step further, the designer can reenforce my confidence with overt labels:
“No, do not cancel” and “Yes, cancel”
